Hello from Bear Essential News, teachers!
We hope your year is off to a good start. Bear Essential News just printed and distributed its free September Editions for Phoenix and Tucson. And the corresponding standards-based worksheets were just posted on our website.
To request newspapers for your school or to adjust the number of newspapers your school receives, please call toll-free: 1-866-NEWS KID (639-7543).
These worksheets and free classroom presentations on writing and/or reporting are provided by the non-profit Bear Essential Educational Services.
The main feature this month is Connected Kids, which takes a look at screen time and other issues facing kids, classrooms and families. Our SeptemBear Edition also continues our Field Trip and Family Outings Guide, which is also online along with our Teachers Resource Guide.
Last month, Bear teamed up with the Water Use It Wisely conservation campaign for water-saving tips. Here’s a fun water activity book you can share with your students.
And this month, Bear is excited to be part of the Arizona SciTech Festival’s STEM and Innovation Summit on Sept. 29 in person at the Arizona Science Center and also online, where we will be conducting an afternoon Zoom pullout session about our Young Reporters Program for students in grades 3 thru 8. We are looking for general reporters and kids who might want to specialize in covering STEM-related stories! https://azscitech.idloom.events/azstemsummit-2021
Young Reporters receive an official YR Kit to help get them started. We are looking for a volunteer Adviser at every school with a few reporters. Monthly Zoom meetings are fun and include a special guest for our Young Reporters to interview. Call our toll-free number if you have questions about this free program. You can go online under our Teachers tab to print out the YR Sign-up Form and for more details on the program or our free classroom presentations.
Thanks a bunch,
Stephen B Gin, editor
