HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO VISIT OZ!

Quick! Hide! The Wicked Witch of the West is coming! This December, Saguaro City Music Theatre is bringing the magical land of Oz to life! I got a chance to interview Missy Paschke-Wood, who will play the Wicked Witch in “The Wizard of Oz.”

Paschke-Wood is a person who likes comedy, and is devoted to the Tucson arts community. She hosted this year’s Tucson Pride Festival and Tucson Folk Festival, and she is on the radio as Midtown Missy every Tuesday afternoon on KXCI FM 91.3. She is very happy and excited to perform with Saguaro City.

Paschke-Wood’s first musical happened to be “The Wizard of Oz” with Missoula’s Children’s Theatre, playing the Yellow Brick Road when she was in 8th grade. Her favorite part of the story is when Dorothy lands in Munchkinland because it is the moment when all the costumes and sets turn colorful! Her favorite song is “Over the Rainbow” since she is a huge Judy Garland fan. “I’m very honored to be in ‘The Wizard of Oz.’” said Paschke-Wood.

I myself have performed three musicals with Saguaro City. One of my favorite parts is working with Drew and Dena, the director and choreographer. They were both experienced actors on Broadway (NYC). I’m always amazed at their dedication and professionalism. I look forward to visiting Dorothy’s family farm in Kansas, Munchkinland and the Emerald City right here in Tucson this holiday season!

See “The Wizard of Oz” at the Berger Performing Arts Center Dec. 20–Jan. 5 to spend your holidays “Over the Rainbow” with Saguaro City! Learn more at www.saguarocity.org.
