After being around for almost 50 years, Bookmans is a staple of Arizona. When you think about our humble state, you think of Bookmans. And between the huge array of items, helpful staff, and year-round events, it’s not hard to see why. That’s why it was an obvious decision to open a new location (4841 N. Stone) off Stone and River. The grand opening of the new Bookmans was Nov. 10, and it lived up to the word “grand.”
After speaking to James Robertson, Community Manager, you, too, would realize just how unique Bookmans is. The local art and music is just one example. And if you need more reasons still, you can watch as employees repair damaged vinyls on their new machine. What more could you ask for? When you realize that 95% of their inventory comes from the local community, you’ll know where to bring your unwanted stuff. Come over to Bookmans to get either trade or cash. And while you’re at it, Bookmans always has fun events to come to. Just recently they had Geek Fest, Comic-Con and so much more! They always have music playing and are ready for some fun.
Having this location here was a strategy move for Bookmans. “It reaches a new demographic of younger crowds,” Robertsons says. It’s also a very central location, but still reaches the Marana market. There is one thing that is not new at this location—it is something that brings up an age-old question. Why orange shelves? Well, the answer is quite simple. Way back in the day, store owner Bob was looking for a way to set Bookmans apart from other stores. He really liked the color orange and decided; what’s more noticeable that orange shelves? And that is why we see them to this day.
