MIDWAY MUSEUM HAS HISTORY, FIREWORKS

Can you imagine, one single battle changing the course of a war? It sounds pretty unbelievable, but, the Battle of Midway was one of those rare battles that would change the course of one of the most terrible wars in history: World War II.

I recently visited the USS Midway Museum, which features the history of the Battle of Midway and World War II. It’s located in San Diego, California. The USS Midway Museum is different from other museums—it’s actually a huge ship containing massive planes used in World War II! You learn about the history of each every one of these planes from tiny speakers provided to you. The speakers play recordings from actual WWII veterans explaining everything to do with a plane. You can also listen to the history behind the ship.

I went there on July 4th, Independence Day! In San Diego, there’s an event called the Big Bay Boom with a spectacular fireworks display. I saw this display on the USS Midway Museum and it was amazing! People from all over the U.S. come to see it— it’s a display that is one of the most watched in the country!

Later, I watched a recording of it on TV and there were things that I missed watching it in person, like a speech talking about why we celebrate Independence Day. There’s a reason that the USS Midway Museum is one of the top places to see the Big Bay Boom. It provides an amazing view, and it’s a symbol of Americans taking a step forward to change the course of the future. The American Revolutionary War and the Battle of Midway—different battles, both big steps for America and its future.
