INDOOR SPORTS THRIVE IN GLENDALE

Glendale is home of great sport venues, and the summer is a fabulous time to enjoy indoor sports. I have been lucky to share sports activities with family and friends in great places near home.

On June 28, I went to State Farm Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals nest, to watch one of the soccer games of Copa America. Costa Rica vs. Colombia was a fun game! Colombia obtained its victory with three goals. The stadium was full with fans and excitement! Most of the people were supporters of the Colombian team. Everybody was having a good time regardless of the team they supported. People were making the wave, cheering, and talking! It was a friendly crowd of 27,000 plus people!

On June 29 I went to the Desert Diamond Arena to see the Arizona Rattlers playing against the Iowa Barnstormers. It was my first time at an indoor football league game. Were they loud... I could never imagine how loud and active this type of event could be! It was fun and even scary! They had sparkling and torch fireworks at the beginning of the game, and every touchdown celebration was very loud with a boom that made people jump! It was a great game with the victory of the Arizona Rattlers 55-26. After the game, I had the opportunity to meet wide receiver Jamal Miles.

Miles attended Peoria High School and Arizona State University. This is his seventh season as a member of the Rattlers. Last season he hauled in 50 receptions for 530 yards and 17 touchdowns. Also, he chipped in for 200 rushing yards and eight touchdowns! Rattlers fans love his versatility!

From soccer to football, with family or friends, Glendale is a city with amazing places to spend time and avoid the summer heat. I hope this summer you were able to find the activities to enjoy!
