Ryan Stegman is a comic book artist/writer who is coming to the Phoenix Fan Fusion which will be held this year from May 24 to May 26. My classmates and I interviewed Stegman so that we could learn more about him and what he does.
Stegman has worked on a lot of Spider-Man comics and is most well known for his work on Venom. Currently he is working on an X-Men comic. We asked what his inspiration to become a comic book artist was. Stegman said that he was inspired because, as a kid, he was very interested in drawing and writing. He thought that he wanted to be an animator, and he was always taking art classes in his school. One day he bought some comics and read them and then he instantly knew that that was what he was going to do when he was an adult.
We asked Stegman if he had any advice for young people aspiring to become comic book writers or artists. You should “draw and write in your spare time.” Another tip that he gave was to try to read as many comic books as possible and to try to copy the drawings from some of them to help you learn how to draw in a comic book style.
We asked him if he had any challenges with his job. He said that his biggest challenge was meeting the deadlines for development. He said that he used to be able to meet deadlines more but he started having trouble after he had children because he also wanted to focus on being a good father.
I recommend going to see Stegman at the Phoenix Fan Fusion.
