Did you know our zoo is having a birthday soon? I spoke with Chelo Grubb with the Reid Park Zoo about the 60th anniversary plans. She told me that Reid Park Zoo was started in 1965 by Gene C. Reid. It started with just a few animals such as pheasants, peacocks and other birds. A few years later it grew into a Prairie Dog town and over time it grew into the Zoo that we know today. Gene  C. Reid was Tucson's Parks and Recreations director in the 1960s.

What is the Humane Society? The Humane Society is a place where people can adopt pets like cats and dogs.

The Humane Society also has special events like free adoption days, but that’s not the point. The point is that dogs, cats, and other animals are not getting adopted and more of them are coming in everyday. So adopting from the Humane Society and other pet organizations helps the community.

On Aug. 28, I went to The Fox Theatre to attend the Andy Grammer concert with opening artist Art Bloom. The Fox Theatre was built in 1930, and years later it was abandoned. Upon reopening they tried to restore its original look. Upon entering the venue you have a sense of awe—amazed by an original fountain and walls full of paintings. Entering the auditorium, the ceiling was covered in vintage carpeting and had beautiful chandeliers that looked like suns. The stage was set for the singers—they had fog machines and instruments for a live show.
