Marathon runner Don Muchow made history by being the first person to run from Disneyland to Walt Disney World. Muchow, 59, has Type 1 diabetes and decided to run to raise money and bring awareness for Type 1 diabetes.

Muchow began his journey on Feb. 1, 2020. He planned to spend 90 days running, but the COVID-19 pandemic stopped him in his tracks–twice.

 Have you ever wanted to become anastronaut and explore space? You don’t haveto wait to apply to NASA or the Space Force, the new Astronaut Exhibit at the Arizona Science Center will allow you to do just that.

In the exhibit are hands-on and full-body displays and you can learn about the mental and physical challenges that astronauts must go through, learn to problem solve, check out the Space Lab and even experience a rocket launch.

 Halloween is traditionally scary with masks and monsters, but due to the pandemic of COVID-19, many people are starting to wonder what Halloween will look like this year.

Dr. Shad Marvasti, a Valley doctor, says we need to come up with creative ways to stay connected to family and friends. If you leave candy out for trick-or-treating ghouls and goblins, he suggests that you leave out pre-packaged candy in small allotments so kids are not reaching their hands into the same bowl.

 A Gilbert Police Officer took part in Over the Edge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics on Dec. 7, 2019. This event took place at Cityscape, the fourth tallest building in Phoenix.

By rappelling down a 500-foot-tall building, Dani Covey helped raise a total of $7,000 for Special Olympics Arizona. Covey is a public affairs officer with the Gilbert Police Department.

This fundraiser helps sponsor athletes of Special Olympics. Participants take part in this Special Olympics fundraiser every year.

 The book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” is turning 50 years old. In celebration of this, Butterfly Wonderland partnered with Penguin Publishing and Eric Carle, the author of the book, to create a special exhibit. The exhibit runs now until the end of August.

I entered a Bear Essential contest and won tickets to see Disney on Ice, Dare To Dream. During the show, five Disney heroines made an appearance. In the first story Belle told the tale of Beauty and the Beast. She had to become friends with the beast to break the spell he was under in order to turn him back into a prince.

At the age of 86, former Astronaut Buzz Aldrin is going on a trip to the South Pole from Nov. 22 through Dec. 12, 2016. He’s already been on adventures down to the Titanic, to deserts, the North Pole and almost every other location on Earth. He also went to the moon!

The middle school he once attended in New Jersey has been renamed after him. So instead of Montclair, the name of the school was changed to The Buzz Aldrin Middle School/The Moon.
