Teachers—the end is near, but in a good way!

Hoping you and your family are handling this transition to reopening well.

Bear’s May Phoenix Edition went out on Mother’s Day with the Republic, and the Tucson Edition just went out with the Sunday AZ Daily Star on May 16. We are beginning to distribute directly to schools again as well.

This month, we worked closely with the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona and the Scottsdale Fire Dept. to bring Arizona families our special pullout section all about water safety! There are activities and essential information about the ABC’s of drowning prevention that families need to know, including where to go for swim lessons and CPR classes.

You and other parents can sign up online for these free, ACCRS-based worksheets for grades K-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 and/or Bear’s digital newsletter by clicking on this link.

For in-depth STEM resources from our partner—the Arizona SciTech Institute—please check out https://scitechinstitute.org/resources/ for all sorts of free and fun learning for grades K–12. Bear Essential works closely with the institute, including its statewide AZ SciTech Festival that’s held every spring.

For summer, please encourage your child or student in grades 3 thru 8 to join our free Young Reporters Program! Participants in this award-winning writing program will be mailed all the materials they need to get started. For details, go to http://www.bearessentialnews.com and look under the Young Reporters tab to print out a Sign-up Form. Have your child fill out the form and a parent needs to sign at the bottom and mail it to us (address is on the form).

New Young Reporters receive an official Bear Press Pass & lanyard, reporter flip pad, and a how-to Young Reporter Stylebook.

Wishing you a happy and safe summer,

Stephen B Gin
