Educators, the holidays will soon be here!
The NovemBear issue features the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street—an eye-opening look back and forward as this iconic public television continues to help kids grow around the globe.
Boomer Bear, the newspaper’s mascot, has a cool coloring contest where kids can win a set of four tickets to some hot holiday happenings. They need to mark their first, second and third choices for which events and teacher’s can sign their entry forms and use their email address instead of the parent(s). Hurry with your entries—the deadline is Nov. 27.
This month’s standards-based Classroom Worksheets are posted online and augment this issue. Please forward this email to your colleagues and they can sign up for these notifications online at BearEssentialNews.com.
The first activity of the Worksheets has students nominating someone for their good work at their school or somewhere else in their community. Please encourage them to enter and you can mail your classroom entries all in one envelope.
Phoenix-area teachers—your students can write for us! Encourage your students, grades 3–8, to join our Young Reporters Program. Click here for the printable Sign-Up Form.
The monthly Young Reporter Night meeting in Tucson is the third Thursday of the month. This month, it’s at Bookman's on Speedway near Wilmot on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 p.m. till 6 p.m. There are prizes and refreshments, and if students have a news story to edit, please arrive at 4:30. Thank you for those who went to the annual Young Reporters Workshop in October at KVOA-4.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
