Mackinzie Houston Dickman is a skier who got disabled in her legs after a car accident. She learned to ski when she was only 2 years old. She absolutely despised being away from the mountains when she was in a wheelchair. She soon discovered sit skiing and loved it.
Dickman was taught to sit ski by an organization called Challenged Athletes of West Virginia. She was approached by a Paralympic coach who told her she had potential to be on team USA. After what the coach told Dickman, she started to race and she got her own coach.
Dickman was in Chile skiing in September. (It is winter in the southern hemisphere during our summer months.) She is training to try to make the Paralympic team going to Italy in 2026. She never gave up despite life’s challenges.
