PATTERSON'S "WORD OF MOUSE" IS A FAVORITE

James Patterson is a renowned writer, but of all his books, “Word of Mouse” seems to be one of the lesser known. However, it happens to be one of my favorites. Illustrated by Chris Grabenstein, the book is filled with beautiful depictions of what is happening in the story.

“Word of Mouse” is a book about Isaiah, a brilliant mouse who lives in a lab with his mischief (family). When his older siblings find a way to escape, they seize their chance, but everyone in his family is caught and brought back to the lab—except Isaiah. The book follows his adventures of trying to survive in the outside world and Isaiah’s attempts to think of a plan to rescue his brothers and sisters. He receives exceptional help from another mouse mischief and a young girl named Hailey. But will it be enough? This fast-paced novel will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you thirsting to read more.

As in his other writings, Patterson goes to great lengths to provide an abundance of vivid descriptions to help the reader form their own mental image. In addition, throughout the book there are multiple cliffhangers which leave the reader questioning what lies ahead. Each character displays a prominent personality and adds flair to the developing story.

Due to the book’s strong character development and with it being written in first person, the reader can easily place themselves in the character’s shoes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and stories about animals. I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
