MARICOPA SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Have you ever heard of the summer reading program? The Maricopa County Library District’s #1 game is filled with adventurous challenges, live events, scavenger hunts and more! Besides the fun of reading great books, discovering new authors and meeting performers and their pets and abilities, you can win awesome prizes!

Each minute read equals 1 point, and the goal is to reach 1,000 points or more. You start earning prizes as soon as you register for the program. Prizes includes tickets for the Phoenix Mercury basketball games, an Arizona State Parks pass, a free book, and much more according to age and points earned. You will enjoy it because you can unlock bonus points by attending library events and earning secret codes. Codes are all throughout the Valley—for example, at community centers or local shops. Don’t be afraid to ask! Sometimes the code will be hidden, and at some libraries each librarian has a code!

Challenges are by theme, and when you do the amount of tasks required you earn a digital badge plus 10–30 points. Many challenges can be done as a family because the program is for all ages. This means you can plan activities with your family and friends, too. A book club with friends sounds adventurous! The theme this year is Adventure Begins at Your Library.
