Robots are cool! They are cool because they can do things that are really hard or even impossible for humans to do! Robots come in all shapes and sizes. One could look like a human and another could look like a table!
So what is a robot? A robot is a machine that can do tasks that it is programmed to do on its own. A robot can only do what a human has programmed it to do.
The Cons of Robotics:
Robots are taking over more and more jobs that used to be done by humans.They are increasing our unemployment rates because robots move and think faster and make fewer mistakes than their human counterparts. An article from CNN says that 300 million jobs could be taken over by robots. Robots also have security risks. Robots do not have any critical thinking skills and they can sometimes be dangerous if they’re not working right, and they might not make good choices like people can. Humans are better at making tricky decisions, being creative, and changing what they do when things around them change. So, while robots are good at some things, there are times when humans are just better. Say you need to pick up something delicate, like a baby. A person can do it carefully, but a robot won’t understand how much force they should use to grab the baby and not injure it. That could be a huge problem.
The Pros of Robotics:
Right now we have many kinds of robots. Robots can help us move heavy things, serve our food, or even do the jobs that are too dangerous for humans. They are used for many different things; there are robot pizza delivery drivers, special robot drones in the military aid our soldiers, and there are even robots that can be your waiter at a restaurant. For example, there is a robot at the Pronto Mexican restaurant in Tempe. The robot’s name is Katrina and she is a waitress and can serve four tables at a time. She saves the restaurant a lot of money and lets the other workers focus on other tasks like taking care of customers or cooking tasty food.
In the future, robots will be even smarter, faster, and cheaper. That means humans can spend less time doing boring or dangerous things and instead focus on better things, like playing games with friends or getting a good education.
Robots are evolving every day and there are a lot of reasons why we all should like these changes. In my opinion, people should be excited about what robots are doing now and can do in the future. Robots will only get better. As human technology continues to improve, we can look forward to robots working together with humans to bring about a better world.
