If you need to switch up your exercise routine and want a really fun vacation, Disney races are a great way to do that. Some of the races this year included a Star Wars themed half marathon and a race where you could dress as a Disney princess. They offer many different lengths of races from full 26-mile marathons down to 5K fun runs. Runners get to run past Tinkerbell’s Pixie Hollow, alongside the sights of Downtown Disney and even over to Tom Sawyer’s Island.
Emily Mercedes says, “If I am going to run that far, I would like to make it fun.”
When her friend brought up the idea of running a half marathon, she calculated the amount of time it would take to run it and Disney seemed like the perfect place to try it. Mercedes has completed five half marathons and plans to run another in January 2018. Her first race she dressed up as Mary Poppins. Last year she dressed up as Joy from “Inside Out.” Her husband dressed as Fear and her daughter was Riley. Mercedes even saw a barefoot runner dressed as Tarzan.
Disney races are fun. You should try one on your next vacation to the Magic Kingdom.
