On Jan. 20, 2006, Disney introduced “High School Musical.” Gabriella is transferring to East High, Troy's school. There, Gabriella and Troy are encouraged to audition for the new school musical, rivaling the talented siblings Sharpay and Ryan. It was a hit.
At a recent virtual event, Young Reporters met ASU’s Kelly Saunders, the program manager from the Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solutions Service. Saunders talked about the Sustainability Solutions Festival, and how many innovators and faculty come together to solve sustainability problems.
Staying home with your siblings doesn’t have to be a nightmare. With a little creativity and compromise you can have a great week. Here’s how we schedule our week so everyone knows what to expect and how each of us can help.
Sunday: Drive-up church and taking turns calling or texting family members. At night we watch a funny movie or AFV to get everyone laughing.
Monday and Wednesday: Sprinkler play at home in the cool evening. We get to play in the water and mud and my mom gets her garden watered.
This year I had the pleasure of participating in the 2nd Annual Wizard Run. The run first took place in 2018 in Joplin, Missouri. The run is 5K, which is equal to three miles. There is a 1 Mile Fun Run you can do as well.
When you register you can choose one of four packages; Broomstick, Phoenix, Owl or Crest. You can also pick one of four colors. I chose the Crest and my dad picked the Broomstick. My shirt was green and his was red. Along with the shirt you receive a custom wand, a medal and a number bib.
Do you know who Mark Kelly is? He is a former astronaut who is running for senate. Not only has Kelly been to space, but he has also been to some local libraries. I had the chance to meet him at the downtown library. He read his bestselling book, “Mousetronaut.”
After the reading, he answered questions. Kelly says he flew 17,000 miles per hour in space. He also noted that the first time you’re in zero gravity, it feels weird.
Kelly’s identical twin brother, Scott Kelly, has been to space, also. The two have written a book together.
“Sanity & Tallulah” is a wonderful newgraphic novel written and illustrated by MollyBrooks.
Brooks isan illustrator for many comics. Her comics have been seen on ESPN sports news, The Globe, and many others. She got the idea for this story from a friend.
Recently, a select few of Bear Essential News Young Reporters were chosen to take part in a program to be paired up with one University of Arizona science graduate student. I was able to work with Cassandra Lejoly, who is studying to obtain a Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences.
