A holiday tradition enjoyed for generations is once more bringing the magic of the season to life in Downtown Tempe. The annual Fantasy of Lights Holiday Street Parade & Tree Lighting will return to Tempe for a festive, fun-filled evening from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022. The event kicks off the holiday season for thousands of attendees each year with a street parade, tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, Santa photos and more.

The festivities begin at 4 p.m., when visitors can explore all Downtown Tempe has to offer, including getting a head start on holiday shopping and dining at the stores and restaurants conveniently located near all the action. In addition, roaming carolers will add to the festive ambiance and snacks vendors scattered along Mill Avenue will help keep everyone fueled for an evening of fun.

Live music from local artists at the stage in Centerpoint Plaza will help build the energy and excitement toward the parade, which begins at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, young (and young-at-heart) spectators can lend some light of their own to the parade by purchasing illuminated toys, with proceeds benefiting the Tempe Rotary.

Following the parade, Santa Claus will join the Tempe City Council in lighting Downtown Tempe’s 40-foot holiday tree. Then afterward, Santa will remain at Centerpoint Plaza to visit with kids and families and pose for cell phone photos, while entertainment featuring local artists will continue until 8 p.m.

Holiday traditions create lasting memories, and there’s no place quite like Downtown Tempe as a destination for unique holiday experiences that appeal to visitors of all ages. The annual Fantasy of Lights Holiday Street Parade & Tree Lighting provides opportunities for families and friends to enjoy time together while helping support the small businesses, musicians and snack vendors who help make Tempe a thriving and inclusive community.
