Many people look forward to the holidays every year. They always include spending quality time with friends and family, enjoying delicious food, giving (and receiving!) gifts, and listening to music. The Oro Valley Festival of the Arts and Tree Lighting Celebration has all of that and more!

This community event is held on December 2 (from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and December 3 (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), at the Oro Valley Marketplace (12155 N. Oracle Road). Enjoy artisans from around the country as they present their work in a wide variety of fields, including sculpture, photography, painting, jewelry, functional art, stone, home decor and metal art. There will also be a new Chalk Art exhibit this year!

In addition to the artisan exhibits all weekend long, there will be several musical performances on Dec. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., including the ever-popular Tuba Christmas. And hopefully you’ve been nice this year, because you’ll also have the chance to meet Santa and his elves! You might even walk away with a gift from Father Christmas himself! This portion of the weekend’s festivities also includes cookie decorating, holiday craft making, brownies, s’mores, and a cup of hot cocoa.

The highlight of the weekend celebration is easily the tree lighting at 6 p.m. on December 2. Watch as the 35-foot tree is lit in the Oro Valley Marketplace. You can really feel the holiday magic as the tree lights up!

With something for everyone, the festival is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The festival is free of charge and open to everyone. We’ll see you there!
