The summer weather may be in full effect but summer break is about to come to an end.

Help out Tempe Elementary School District kids in need with the School Supply Summer Drive at Arizona Mills Mall. Supplies needed include backpacks, lined paper, pencils, folders and more. Clothing needed includes uniforms, socks and shoes. For a complete list click HERE. School supplies can be taken to Simon Guest Services, SEALIFE Arizona and LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona.

The Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department is also holding their annual Back to School Supply Drive. Supplies needed include backpacks, binders, notebooks, pencils, and markers. Monetary and gift card donations will also be accepted. All items can be dropped off at the Gilbert Fire and Rescue.

Opera and Gelato Festival

Can’t afford a trip to Italy this summer? Come experience the Opera and Gelato Film Festival right here in Phoenix. This month’s featured film is La Fanciulla del West (rated PG-13 for graphic content). There will be a Red Pasta Sauce Competition where all contestants will receive two free tickets to Hercules vs. Vampires and the winner will receive two free tickets to Tosca! There will be drinks and gelato for purchase. Parking is available in the Arizona Opera Lot and at the Flinn Foundation, located next door.



Free Summer Sunday

It’s the fourth Sunday of the month! That means that it’s time to get out of the sun and take advantage of free access to all of the museum’s galleries, art demonstrations and more. This is a family fun event that has fun for all ages. Performances include hoop dance, beadwork, and woodcut printmaking where visitors can make their own creations.

Biomimicry at Tempe Center for the Arts
